Kang Jung have not been cooking or baking recently. He seems to lost interest in the kitchen. However, he requested that he want to help me when he saw me preparing to make Bak Kwa today.

Kang Jung did all the mixing and I do all the baking. Here is our result.

I have started to teach Kang Jung how to type on my computer. I felt that this is an essential skill and it will save a lot of time doing his homework in future. There is a lot of online kids typing games that makes learning fun. I am glad that Kang Jung is having fun.

I kept thinking how my fingers kept getting struck into the old manual typewriter when I was learning how to type in those days.

I took Kang Jung to Kinokuniya bookshop to look for my computer book. Kang Jung was nagging me non-stop for me to buy this and that. I told him that if he will to behave himself, I will buy 1 item from the bookshop for him. So he was really a good boy while I search for my book.

Reading map

If you see a 5 year old boy reading a map in a MRT, on a bus, in a shopping centre, supermarket, bus stop, toy shop, playground, food court, fast food, while queuing for toilet, cashier, etc... It may be Kang Jung.

If you see a woman pulling a 5 year old boy who is reading a Singapore map, it may be me.

He drew so many MRT maps at home.

Even his teacher commented on his drawings.

Buses and Maps

Kang Jung was so obsessed in buses and maps for these few months. Ever since Ah Gong gave him an old bus guide and I gave him an old map, he has been studying them.

We brought him the latest map and bus guide after he commented that some buses were missing.

The good thing is that he had learned a lot by reading the bus guide and map. The bad thing is that he has been wanting to take all sort of number on the buses. Example, he has been bugging me to take the bus number 700. To achieve that, we will have to change 2 number of buses to Bukit Panjang interchange. He also begged me to bring him to Tuas Interchange. My goodness, I did not know that Tuas has got an interchange until Kang Jung told me.

Another cute thing that he does was that he will copy the bus number and the destination on a paper, cut it out and stick it on his toy bus.

Teacher day gifts

This is the first time I have helped Kang Jung to prepare some teacher day gifts. Kang Jung baked some chocolate chips cookies and I have divided them into 8 packets. Kang Jung wrote a note for each packet and I have attached a different photo of Kang Jung making cookies to show to the teachers that these cookies were really baked by him. He will decide tomorrow which teachers/helpers he wants to his cookies to.

Kang Jung wants me to buy his book on buses. He said that it was an expensive book and it cost $100.

I searched my play wallet adding all my notes and realize that I am $10 short. I told Kang Jung that I do not have enough money and asked if I can pay by my card.

After some thinking, Kang Jung told me that his book will cost me only $1 if I choose to pay using my card. I handed him my card.

He gave me his book, my card, an invoice and a $6 change. Bwahahahaha.

Crying over his homework

Kang Jung came back with 3 pages of homework. He manage all of them by himself until when he need to draw a picture of an umbrella and a violin. He started to cry in front of his homework. He wanted me to help him to draw.

When this happen previously, I will get him to look for the subject in his mini library. I will help him to search for the subject and let him try to draw by looking at the picture from his books. Most of the time, he will complained that he cannot find the subject that he want in his mini library and he will stand there and wait for my help.

Well, this time, I have decided not to help him at all. I told him to look for a picture of umbrella in his mini library all by himself. He went into my study room and came out to tell me that he could not find it. He did not even pick up a book. I told him to try again and he ended up crying even more. After several session of crying, running in and out of my study room, he finally found a picture of an umbrella. However, he complained that it was too difficult to draw.

I told him to go back in and find an easier picture and the crying started again. My patience ran low and I made him stand in the naughty corner. After a while, he told me that he do not want to stand in the naughty corner. I told him that if he do not want to stand in the naughty corner, he will have to find the picture of an umbrella on his own. He went back to his library.

He came out of the study room 2 minutes later and show me a new picture of an umbrella. He finally drew a picture of an umbrella all by himself. The next picture was a violin. This time round, he finally pick up books and flip through them to find the picture. He manage to find 2 pictures and he drew a beautiful violin without my screaming at all.

6 storey bus

This is a drawing of a 6 storey bus by Kang Jung. Since it is a 6 storey bus, it needs a lot of wheels to be able to run. According to Kang Jung, there is a lift in the bus instead of a staircase. I love his drawing.

On Saturday, we walked from Harbourfront MRT station all the way to the entrance of Kent Ridge Park. We went through Mount Faber Park, Henderson Waves, Telok Blangah Hill Park,Forest Walk,Alexandra Arch & Hort Park. We gave Kent Ridge Park a miss because it was late and our legs were breaking.

Some are some interesting pictures taken, but not so much on our walk.

I just smile after this. I have never associate the word "cute" on myself, but I felt so good after he has said that. In fact, I find him so cute that he said that to me.

Kang Jung's interest

Since Kang Jung was very young, I have been thinking of letting him go to enrichment classes that matches his interests. I do not want to force him to do something that he do not like. So I have been asking him what he will like to learn.

I have actually forced him to go for a 2 days art class which he said that he had enjoyed it very much but he do not want to go again.

I have asked him at 4 year old if he will like to learn roller skate which he said no. I have also asked him if he want me to buy a skate scooter and he said no too. He was also not interested to learn music, swimming and art. He learned how to ride a tricycle and he has not been riding it for a long time. The only interest he has was cooking so I have ended up teaching him a bit of baking and simple dishes.

I asked him today if he wanted to join a cooking class, he said no. Then I asked him if he will like to join a chinese class since he interested in chinese. He said no again. Feeling a bit discouraged, I asked him,"So what do you want to learn?"

Kang Jung asked me if there are classes that teaches him how to drive a double decker bus.

Washing the dishes

Made Kang Jung wash his own bowl after meal.

And after washing his own bowl, he will have to clean the dinner table.

After he has done everything, he told me that he like washing the dishes. So I told him that he will get to do it everyday from today onwards. He was jumping with joy.

I hope he will not get sick of washing the dishes in his lifetime.

Kang Jung:你知道为什么我要帮你吗?
Me: 为什么?

I am melting at that moment. Although I knew that his teacher had read to him a book about mother, I still think that he was so sweet to say that.

Kang Jung 5 year old birthday

7th April was Kang Jung's birthday. Before we stepped into Kang Jung's school we could hear his friends screaming,"Kang Jung is here! Kang Jung is here!"

When we stepped into the school, his friends crowded around him wishing him happy birthday. One of his friend even handed him a birthday card before he could take off his shoes. Another friend helped him to take his school bag and water bottle. He was so popular.

By the way, Kang Jung told me before his birthday that he has already told his friends what was inside all those goodies bags.

After the mini birthday celebration, I brought Kang Jung to Changi Airport to buy his Lego. However, the NTUC at T3 no longer carried Lego. We had no choice but to go down to Orchard Road where we can find the model that Kang Jung wanted. He has been waiting for several months for his birthday to come so that he can get this Lego that has a bus.

When we reached home, Kang Jung immediately opened the box of Lego. I have made him read the instruction by himself and build the whole Lego by himself. I only helped him to find the pieces when he cannot find it, and helped him to press the blocks down when some pieces need a bit of strength. He took 2 nights to complete everything and he was very very happy with the toy. I am very happy to find out that he can read simple instruction and follow them.

This is what he has done.

Now, I am waiting for the day when he can assemble ikea's furniture. Bwahahaha.

I was surprise when I saw Kang Jung self made road together with his toy road. I was wondering what he was doing when he asked me if he can borrow my transparent tape. Then I saw his self drawn road, one of them was cutout with a scissor and they were tape together. I was happy that he will try to figure out how to make his own toys without my help.

Brought this for Kang Jung.

I have been using my handheld electric mixer all these while and I find it a bit too dangerous for Kang Jung to handle it. So I have decided to buy a mixer that you do not need to hold it all the time. The good thing is that Kang Jung has enjoyed baking his cupcakes and I do not feel tired after all that baking session.

Love Declaration

Last night, Kang Jung told me that a girl from his class told him that she love him. I was laughing so hard after I heard that. This little girl wanted Kang Jung to be her boyfriend and he said ok. But my boy still has got no concept of boy/girl relationship yet, so he told her that he got lots of girlfriends. He started to give her all the names of the girls in his class.

Making pizza at 11pm

Urban Designer?

Is Kang Jung going to be an urban designer? Or am I thinking too much? He has been using his toys to build "big cities" and he has been doing that for a few weeks.

However, Kang Jung insisted that he wanted to become a bus driver when he grow up. He wanted to drive bus number 80 and it must be a double decker. He was very sad when I told him that he must follow the bus no. 80 route and not go anywhere he like.

I have made Kang Jung buy his own snack today for the second time. I will stand far away from the store, gave him the money and get him to buy the food he want by himself. The first time I did that was at ikea the hotdog snack shop. He joined in the long queue by himself and order his hotdog. There was no queue at old Chang kee today and he manage to buy fishballs for himself. So proud of him.

2nd lesson in art class

I really like what I am seeing from the art class. I can see lots of improvement from the first piece. Although Kang Jung said that he had enjoyed the lesson very much, he do not want to attend anymore art classes. I guess I knew my son too well, that is the reason why I have enrolled him in a 2 days only art class.

First Art Class

Kang Jung attended his first art class today. It was a 2 days art class at a nearby community centre. He attend the class with his cousin, Luck Heng.

Preparing for class. Kang Jung took out his watercolor, oil pastel and drawing board.

Halfway through the class. I took this picture from outside the classroom. There were lots of laughter from the classrooms while they were working on their master piece.

Final work. I was actually quite impress. According to Kang Jung, the teacher only helped him to draw the Doraemon.

I hardly see Kang Jung do any coloring until I offer to share my big box of colour pencils with him. He was so amazed at gold colour, silver colour, sand colour and some other unusual colour that he said he like my colour pencil very much. That box consist of all the colour pencils I have owned since dunno when.

Christmas present

I have gave Kang Jung his Christmas present today because it was impossible to hide the present until Christmas.

Oh boy, he was so happy that he kept jumping non stop. I have asked him to give his hamster a name. After thinking for a while, Kang Jung said that it will be named "Hamster".

Anyway, the 8 month old Miss Hamster is a lucky girl. She get to live in a 2 storey bungalow with a mezzanine all by herself.

Time to change house rules

Finish your meal at 8pm or you will get nothing to eat until next meal. Usually Kang Jung will cried and screamed when he cannot finish his meal at 8pm. Today, he just told me that it is 8pm now and left the dinner table with his unfinished meal. He did not cried or scream. He just left the table and play with his toys.

I think it is time to change my house rules.

Pooh Bears

Big City

I have combine several set of toys and build a big city for Kang Jung. There were roads for his cars and buses and a railway track for his train. There were also school, KFC, bus interchange, bread shop, garden and many more. He was so happy with the result that he kept jumping around his city non-stop.

Christmas Trees

We went to Ikea and shoot every Christmas tree we find. KJ had so much fun making funny faces while posing beside the trees.

Kids get to eat free meals in Ikea for the month of November. It only apply on weekdays and non-holidays. So get your kids to eat in Ikea. We might go back there just for the free meals.

Hide and Seek

Kang Jung wanted to play hide and seek with me. So I covered my head with a pillow and start counting to ten while Kang Jung hide. After I finish counting to ten, I shouted, "I am coming". Kang Jung began to giggle. I heard his laughter coming from the main door. He was hiding behind his bicycle.

Kang Jung complained that I found him too fast. So I told him it was his turn to find me. I hides in the common toilet while he was counting. I heard him running around the house while calling for me. I just stand in a corner keeping quiet. Soon I heard him crying for me. I ran out to find him in tears. He said he cannot find me and began to feel frighten. I just cannot help but laugh at him. Silly boy.

I hugged him and laugh at him at the same time. I asked him if he want to play hide and seek again. He said no. When he was done crying, Kang Jung told me that I should hide in somewhere where he could find me, not somewhere where i cannot be found. Maybe he is right about this.

New toy

We went to Kiddy Palace today. Kang Jung pointed to one toy and told me he like it very much. I told a look at it and realize it was just some plastic roads. It cost about $29 and I told Kang Jung that that was stupid and expensive. There was no other stuffs except roads. I told him that I could easily build one for him with additional carparks which the toy did not offer. Kang Jung began to show excitement. I add to his excitement by asking him if he want a bus interchange to go with his road. He was so excited that he was pulling me away from Kiddy Palace.

This is what I have done. It include a bus interchange, 2 carparking lots and a few houses. Everything can be kept neatly away and I have only use existing materials found at home.

English frogs vs Chinese frog

Vomit blood

I am vomiting blood now. I can feel that I am going to have high blood pressure in future.

Kang Jung brought back his uncompleted work from school. He was crying that all his classmate got a star for completing their work and his teacher did not give him a star. I look at his work and realize that his teacher has rub away his word "bed" and a reflected "apple". I told Kang Jung that his teacher wanted him to write his name, not the word "bed" or "apple".

Anyway, I have insisted that he complete his work at home and hand up his work on Monday. I gave him a blank paper to practice writing his name first. Oh my god, I can understand why his teacher gave up on him. I started out telling him softly how he should write each letter and I get louder and louder until he started crying. I really cannot be a teacher, I have got no patience.

Anyway, after some crying from him and some screaming from me, Kang Jung manage to write his name neatly and complete his work. I think I will have more stress moment with him on the dinner table for 10 more years.

Kang Jung finally get to drive a Ferrari

Kang Jung has been a fan of Ferrari since this year F1 race. He has been borrowing books on racing cars from the library every week. He was very happy when I brought him to Changi Airport Terminal 3 carpark for a 10 minutes car race. He wanted to do it again. I told him that we will come here again only if he has been a good boy all week.

First dentist appointment

Kang Jung was so brave. The reason why I have said that is because I am so frighten. I was so scare that he will cried and kick the dentist, refuse to let her touch his teeth or worst, ended up have to go for GA just to get his teeth clean. I think I think too much, I am just so glad everything went too smooth and the dentist was so good.

However, the real test is going to be next week when Kang Jung is going to have 2 of his teeth fill. I dun understand why he got so many problems with his teeth when I control so much on his cleanness and his intake of sweet stuffs. He might need to fill 6 of his teeth. The dentist said if the holes do not grow bigger before he change his teeth, we might only need to do 4 of them only.

Kang Jung was playing with his racing cars while watching F1 on TV. My sofa has became his racing track. He will act out whatever that was happening on TV. I remember that he had pull out a lot of wheels from his vehicles after watching F1 on TV last year. I hope he will not do the same thing this year.

KJ made pizza for the first time.

I have kept my promise and teach Kang Jung how to make pizza. Actually, I have never make pizza before so I am not sure what goes in. As Kang Jung do not like to eat meat, I have to buy some ham and his favourite eggs to put inside them. To make the process more interesting, I give Kang Jung some cookie cutter to cut the ham. But we ended up sprinkling the pizza with lots of cheese and we cannot see our beautiful creation.

He took a picture of his creation before eating it. LOL! The pizza taste good. Kang Jung commented that it taste better than store brought pizza.

Where is my baby?

I was using my laptop on the table while Kang Jung was playing with his transformers on the same table. I just stare at him...

Kang Jung now speak in perfect sentences (mandarin) and write a good amount of chinese words. As he was playing his toys on the table, he kept talking to himself, explaining the story and what his transformers were doing. He mentioned names of the transformer that I have never heard before.

I just realise that he has grow up so fast. I miss the baby Kang Jung. I need to hug and kiss him more before he get embarrassed by my affection. I thought he was only 4 year old but how come he lost his baby side of him so fast.

Kite Flying

I brought Kang Jung to a big field to let him fly a kite again. The last time we fly a kite was a year ago and Kang Jung do not know how to fly one at that time. This time, he manage to fly one. I have to release enough string for the kite to be able to fly high and all he has to do is run. There was no wind at all on that day and everybody kite cannot seem to go high.

I was so happy when his kite went higher when he ran that I kept screaming "Run! Run!" as I ran behind him.

Hate eating meat

Kang Jung was very picky with his food. He do not like to eat meat since young. There was a time, we found out that he was low in iron when we did a blood test on him. The doctor suggest that we feed him multi vitamin that contain iron.

I did not follow the doctor at that time. I actually encourage him to take more meat by trying all sort of ways. I do have a little success, Kang Jung began to like chicken and pork.

Recently, Kang Jung began to dislike chicken and pork again. I made satays and he manage to take one before showing me his disgusting face. I took him to KFC, he only took half a drumstick. He refuse to take dim sum with meat in them, he only like carrot cake, vegetarian spring roll and egg tarts. He began to gag when I force him to eat the meat that I cooked.

I gave up and went to buy a bottle of chewable multi vitamin that contain iron for him yesterday.

Kang Jung First National Day Parade

I got lucky this year and won 2 tickets to NDP preview on last Saturday. We did not went into the parade early because I knew that it will be hot and the show only start at 5:30pm. Our timing was so accurate that the show started once we are seated. It was very very hot because the sun was shinning right at our faces. I have only brought 1 cap so I let Kang Jung use it. He was complaining all the time until the sun disappear behind City Hall.

We have an enjoyable day although Kang Jung complained that he was very tired halfway through the show and he wanted to go home. On our way home, I have to carry 2 super heavy fun totes, my handbag and hold Kang Jung hand to guide him where to walk. The police official actually stop all the people from going to City Hall MRT because it was too crowded. We ended up at the circle line and we will glad we were there because there were seats on the train.

Anyway, Kang Jung enjoy the parade very much and told me that he wanted to watch it again next week. I told him that I do not have the tickets for next week and we can only go to the esplanade on the coming Monday to watch the fireworks. He said OK. I still remember that he was so scare of firework last year but he do not seem to be scare this year. He want to shoot the firework with his new camera.

Cold Storage Kids Run

We have lots of fun at the Kids Run last Sunday. Kang Jung really enjoy running and kept asking me if he can run again tomorrow. I told him that if he want to run, he will have to wait for a year later when Cold Storage organise the run again. I dun think he understand how long is a year.

Anyway, Kang Jung worn his medal through the day until bedtime on Sunday. He kept saying that he won a medal while I have only won a bottle of strawberry milk. I have signed him up for the Standard Chartered Kids Dash on December but I have not told him yet.

Ok, I told myself that I must complete this task today so that I can completely move on.

The reason why I have not blog as often as I will like to blog is because I have no mood to blog. I have been crazily active in facebook.

This is the last picture of my baby girl, I have not seen her after I have terminate my pregnancy at 4th month. She has trisomy 13, cannot survive after birth.

Ok, I will not go into the details. Anyway, since I can write this post, it means that I have get over this, I will no longer be afraid of being near pregnant woman. I will still stare at newborn babies because I like them.

We have took Kang Jung for his very first aeroplane ride to Hong Kong and Taipei. By the time he has reach Taipei airport, he said he wanted to go home.

Anyway, I manage to survive this 6 days trip with Kang Jung. I think I will do it again if there is an opportunity.

8th weeks old baby

My gynae wants me to eat MacDonald, KFC and Burger King. He also recommended me to drink more ice lemon tea and sweet drink. He said my baby need sugar.

My 5th week old baby

I thought I am suppose to be in my 7th weeks. After my gynae took my baby measurement, he said I should be in my 5th weeks. I felt so horrible this morning but so much better this afternoon, so I thought I better upload more posting. I dunno if my morning sickness will get worst a not. If it get worst, I will not be able to use my computer for a few months.

By the way, my gynae just told me that I should feel more happy when my morning sickness get worst because it means that my baby is growing. I think he has never go through morning sickness before and that was why he can said that easily.

Mommy has told Kang Jung not to tell anyone that Mommy has a baby in her tummy. Kang Jung agreed to keep it a secret. However, he told everyone in his school that Mommy was vomiting at home now. I think it is really difficult to keep his mouth shut.

Kang Jung surprise Mommy by eating 2 hot & spicy drumlets from Pizza Hut. This was the first time Kang Jung actually eat something spicy and told Mommy that he was not afraid of spicy food.
